Working the polls this November comes with an inherent health risk because of the ongoing pandemic. The Poll Hero Project, while unable to provide you with safety equipment, considers your health and safety to be of the utmost importance. To that end, we’ve put together this safety guide.
Ask your election officials about their safety procedures.
Learn more about how your election officials plan to enforce safety procedures and what safety equipment (if any) they intend to provide. Visit our “Protecting Your Health & Safety” page for a list of things you want to consider and questions to ask regarding safety measures that are being taken.
What to bring on Election Day
To minimize health risks, please follow your election officials’ formal guidelines. Bring at least two masks to cover your mouth and nose and a face shield for extra protection. Apply hand sanitizer frequently as you work your shift and wash your hands with soap and warm water whenever possible. Bring water and snacks to stay focused and disciplined. Practice social distancing if possible. More specific guidance is on our Safety page.
What to do after Election Day
Please monitor your health for potential COVID-19 symptoms and get tested as soon as you can after Election Day, as some cases are known to be asymptomatic.
